Sennheiser

Introduction

There are very few truly legendary companies in the world of professional music recording, but Sennheiser is one of them. It is also one of the oldest companies in the world of professional music recording. For more than 75 years, Sennheiser has been making some of the greatest microphones that have been used to record popular music since the end of the Second World War. Sennheiser has made classic microphones and one of them— the Sennheiser MD 421-II (simply referred to as the 421 by most of the legendary engineers of the past), has been used on perhaps just about every single drum kit or electric guitar that has been recorded in popular music since the early 1970s. Sennheiser makes a wide variety of great microphones, headphones and an immersive listening system— the Ambeo system (a microphone, soundbars and a subwoofer).

Which products from Sennheiser that were used by the great engineers and recording studio facilities of the past would be a great fit for the educational space?

I never worked on a single recording session in which Sennheiser microphones were not used. We used Sennheiser 421 microphones on toms and sometimes on electric guitar amplifiers in every single session. However, I also work with engineers who use the Sennheiser 500-series— now these fabulous microphones of the past have been updated with the amazing microphones of the 600-series and the new 900-series. These microphones excel on a wide variety of sources and can be used in both live and recording studio applications— making them a perfect choice for educational institutions. Each of them are easy to use, durable and will last a lifetime of fabulous use.
