Audient

Introduction

Audient is one of the most innovative companies in the professional music recording world. The interfaces, monitor controllers, microphone preamps and consoles from Audient are all classic products being used by professionals in fine recording studios around the world. Audient may be an innovative company with forward-thinking products, but it is not a new company in the world of professional music recording. Audient is the brainchild of two of the greatest engineering minds in the world of professional audio— David Dearden and Gareth Davies, and since 1997, its amazing products have been an integral component in the process of making great music for artists, engineers, musicians and producers around the globe.

Which products from Audient that were used by the great engineers and recording studio facilities of the past would be a great fit for the educational space?

Each of the products made by Audient would be an excellent fit for the educational space, so it will be well worth your time if you are an educator to take a look at all of the offerings on their company website. However, there are four products that the company makes which would be a great fit for the educational space that will be introduced in this brief article. These products are the Audient EVO-16 interface, the Audient NERO monitor controller and both the Audient 4816 Heritage and Standard Edition consoles. Audient has its headquarters in Hampshire, England, where the fabulous engineers lovingly craft each of their products for their customers in the world of professional music recording.

The Audient EVO-16

The Audient EVO-16 would be an excellent choice for an educational program that is looking for a single interface to be able to record multiple sources into your digital audio workstation software program. It features eight pristine microphone preamps, two instrument inputs, two headphone outputs (for easy monitoring) and complete and easy digital connectivity. In other words, it is an easy to use and affordable all-in-one music recording solution in just a single box.

The Audient NERO is a pristine sounding monitor controller which allows you to be able to listen to a variety of sources on an array of monitoring systems in your studio. It also features RCA inputs, a mini-jack input, two stereo inputs and allows you to be able to send your mix to the artists that you are collaborating with so that you can work together in real time. The NERO also features main stereo outputs, a pair of alternative stereo outputs and the handy ability to allow you to be able to assign your subwoofer to any output. The Audient 4816 Heritage Edition

If there is a small-format analog console that would be a great fit for the educational space, it would be the Audient 4816, which comes in both a Heritage and a Standard edition. The Heritage Edition is a 16-channel analog console which offers sixteen pristine microphone preamps, a 4-band equalizer on each channel and vintage mix bus processing. The Heritage Edition also features the sweet-sounding John Hardy op-amps. The 4816 Heritage Edition is the perfect console for a music recording program that would be working with small bands, small choirs or even musical ensembles for their class projects.

Though it does not come with the John Hardy op-amps, it is a sweet-sounding, small footprint console that would also make the perfect centerpiece for a recording studio facility in an educational space.
